Blood Donations

The Blood Supply in this area is critically low, forcing the American Red Cross to send only about half of what area hospitals need for their patients.  The Red Cross is asking everyone who is eligible to give blood now.  If you have given blood before, it must be 56 days since your last donation.  To be a donor, you must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 105 lbs., and be in general good health.  If you have any questions about giving blood, call the Red Cross at 1-800-GiveLife or visit www.givelife.org.

Family Foundations

Are you or your partner pregnant for the first time?  Couples expecting a baby can sign up for a new series of classes designed especially for first-time parents.  This class will help prepare you for the joys and stresses of parenthood, keeping your relationship and romance alive, parenting as a team, and supporting your baby's healthy development.  Sign up by calling Richard Puddy at Penn State's Prevention Research Center at 717-233-0835.
